Operations Management Degrees

If you’re interested in a career in operations management, you’ll have several industries from which to choose. Most companies employ operations managers to control theday-to-day, as well as long term operations within an organization. With the various options available to the operations management degree graduate, it’s important to know what careers each degree can grant access to. Each degree will provide a certain level of proficiency, and qualify graduates for different careers. It is up to you to decide which degree is going to be the right choice for you. Operations management degrees include:

  • Associate’s: This two year degree program will provide an essential education on the nature of operations management. The classes will be career-focused, with the aim to produce graduates qualified for entry-level positions. Student who complete this degree program will have many options including an entry-level operations position at a company, or continuing education at the bachelor’s level. Management, economics, operations study and finance will all be included in the curriculum.
  • Bachelor’s: The bachelor’s level operations management degree program will consist of a wider study of operations and management, as well as related business fields. Graduates with this degree level will be qualified for entry- to mid- level positions in various industries. Within the bachelor’s program, students will be provided with a strong management background, with supplemental operations and logistics courses.
  • Master’s: After completing the bachelor’s level degree program, student may opt to enroll in a master’s program. At this level, students will receive training on the technical functions within a company, as well as managerial training. Students may specialize in specific industries according to career goals, and will graduate with the potential to be employed as mid- to upper-level operations managers.
  • PhD: Students who complete this level degree program will have received extensive training in operations management, and probably have aspirations to become a high level executives. The combination of a PhD and a few years’ experience in the field can make an operations management graduate a valuable, and well-compensated asset to a company.
