Sports Management Degrees

A degree in sports management will provide a study of business and management, and they way in which they apply to the sports industry. The skills you learn will be transferable to many different job sectors, making graduates of these degree programs highly desirable and versatile job candidates. Each degree level will provide a different level of training, so be sure to choose the one that will best prepare you for your career goals.  Also, check to see if the sports management degree program you’re interested in is accredited by the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM).

It is up to you to decide which degree is going to be the right choice for you. Sports management degrees include:

  • Associate’s: This degree program provides an education in business methods and practices, as well as fundamental sports topics such as fitness and nutrition. Graduates of this degree program may become involved in lower-level sports management positions including community recreational sports management and public relations for a franchise or sports network.
  • Bachelor’s: A four year bachelor’s degree in sports management will qualify graduates to gain entry-level access to sports-related fields. The programs will generally offer a business and management-focused curriculum with a concentration on how those topics are applicable to sports. Graduates of this degree program will be qualified to work in all manner of sports and recreation fields including youth, professional, semi-professional and educational.
  • Master’s: After completing the bachelor’s degree program, students may wish to continue on to a graduate degree in sports management. This degree program will offer extensive training in sports management, and qualify graduates to purse mid-to upper-level positions as executives or talent agents.
