General Studies Degrees
A general studies degree will vary
depending on your interests. There will usually be a few required
courses, but you will structure the majority of your curriculum. Not
every school will offer a general studies degree, and the ones that do
may vary from one to another. Make sure you do some research into the
school you choose, and the career outlook for that school’s general
studies degree graduates.
Degrees in general studies include:
- Associate’s: Usually a two year
program, this degree will provide exposure to a wide range of subjects
from psychology to creative writing. Students may use this type of
general studies degree to decide on a major within a bachelor’s program,
or seek employment at any number of positions related to their focus
after graduation.
- Bachelor’s: Graduates
of a bachelor’s in general studies program will have been trained in
numerous academic subjects, and be eligible to work within several
career fields. Graduates will also have the option to pursue a more
specific course of study in a graduate program after completing the
general studies degree.
